Root for Plum Creek Arbor Day Tree Planting Volunteer Event

We’re calling on the Kyle community to roll up their sleeves and help make a lasting impact during Root for Plum Creek Tree Planting Day.

Join the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority, with support from the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department’s Conservation Division, on Saturday, November 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Bunton Park for a community Arbor Day tree planting event.

Volunteers will come together to plant hundreds of Texas native tree saplings and dozens of woody shrubs near Bunton Creek Park. This community effort will help restore and protect water quality, improve wildlife habitat, expand Kyle’s urban tree canopy, and create long term environmental benefits for Plum Creek and the surrounding community.

No previous planting experience is required. GBRA and City of Kyle staff will provide guidance throughout the event.

As a thank you for volunteering, each participant will receive a Conservation Division grown Mexican Buckeye sapling in a one gallon container to take home and plant. The saplings are expected to be approximately one foot tall by the time of the event.

Mexican Buckeye is a beautiful Texas native small tree that produces pink flowers in the spring and provides valuable habitat and resources for local wildlife and pollinators.

Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes and comfortable outdoor clothing appropriate for planting.
